Animators have caught on to this concept for years. That is why most cartoons for kids are of animals. Small cute animals with big round eyes and a thick cuddly soft coat.

Download Free Fish Cursors

Ah the wonderful creatures of the sea. Fish are aquatic vertebrates. This means they have a bone structure that separates them from invertebrates. Their gills allow them to breath under water. Their fins propel them through the sea. The combination of gills, fins and habitat in the water make them uniquely different from other animals on the planet.

They spend all their lives in the water, whether it is the sea or the rivers. Scientists believe there are more than 24,000 different species of fish. However, because it is so difficult to identify and track all the fish in the sea, this is only, at best, a guess. There are certainly many more fish to be discovered, especially in the deepest and darkest part of the oceans.

Apart from the Tuna and Mackerel sharks, fish are typicaly cold-blooded animals. Do not confuse the dolphin and the whale for a fish. Whilst they do swim and live in the ocean and have fins, they are actually mammals. They breath air with lungs just like humans and need to come up for air every so often. They are warm blooded and feed babies with milk.

Another group typically confused as fish is the Jelly Fish. Whilst they have, confusingly, the word ‘fish’ in their name, they are in fact not a fish at all. This is because they do not have any bones. They are invertebrates. Most fish, apart from sharks, have skeleton made of bone.

The biggest fish is the Whale Shark. Whale Sharks can be up to 16 metres (51 feet) long! The smallest recorded fish is the Stout Infant Fish which are as small as 8 mm (1/4 inch)!

Reptiles are slimy, scaley, cold blooded animals that bring a tingle to almost every warm blooded human. When thinking of reptiles, lizards and snakes generally come to mind. They are poisonous and in deed very scary. However, not all reptiles can be classed as such. There are four orders that reptiles can be grouped into: Crocodilia, Sphenodontia, Squamata, Testudines.

Of the four reptiles groups the Testudines group is probably the most loved by humans. They are the Turtles and Tortoises. There are many types of turtles. Ones that live on land, ones that habitat the sea. Herbivores and Omnivores. Yes, even though they are cute and adorable, some turtles do eat meat.

The most famous turtles are perhaps the cartoon incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They were fun loving, karate chopping turtles that fought crime and ate pizza. Other famous reptiles include the crocodile from Peter Pan and Godzilla – the giant reptile.

Birds are majestic creatures capable of flying great heights and long distances. There are more than 10,000 varying species of birds from the tiny hummingbird to the great ostrich spanning three metres high. It is not entirely clear where birds have evolved from. Some dinosaurs had feathers and some had a similar hip structure to modern day birds but how these dinosaurs evolved to take flight is a great mystery.

Not all birds can fly. To be able to fly, birds need very large pectoral muscles to flap their wings. Some birds like chickens and penguins have lost this ability and their muscles are not strong enough to take flight. This may be because of their habitat and a lack of predators to flee from.

Most birds feed on seeds, nectar, fruits and plants. Some larger predator birds like the kingfisher, sulid, and terns feed on fish. Penguins, Diving Ducks, and Loons are able to swim under water to catch their prey. Instead of flying they have developed the ability to navigate the waters with webbed feet.

Many small birds have been domesticated to make great pets. The parrot is by far the most well known for its ability to speak and mimic the human voice. The hummingbird is popular for its harmonious singing. Predator birds like the Eagle and Hawk are kept in zoos for display and conservation.

Dogs are a domesticated descendent of the wild wolf. Unlike cats, dogs have been initially bred as workers but quickly also became great companions to humans. The strength, speed, intelligence, and versatility of dogs have meant that they have been used for a variety of roles throughout human settlement, including pulling sleighs, herding sheeps, search and rescue, hunting, aiding handicapped people, and sniffing for illegal drugs.

Domesticated dogs are highly receptive to human voice and hand movement. Unlike wolves, they can be trained to be well behaved and responsive to human commands. Among many skills, dogs can learn to bark on command, walk along a path, eat and rest at designated locations, and fetch. This intelligence and trainability means they can make great pets for families and little children, especially with breeds such as the labrador or maltese.

Some dog breeds still inherit a large degree of their wild and hunting ancestry. Dog breeds such as the Staffordshire Terrier, Cattle Dog, Rottweiler, and Pit Bull should be treated with extreme care and be leashed at all times in public. These types of dogs are responsible for hundreds of human injuries world wide and even the most tame of these breds will at times snap into a wild frenzy.

The craze of loving cats is called cat fancy and one look at a cute cat is enough to make anyone melt and understand why so many people adore having cats around.

Other than being great as companions, they also make for excellent pest control. Cats have a superior range of hearing compared to humans and are also six times more sensitive to light, making them a feared night predator for those pesky rodents.

Glitter was invented early last century by a farmer named Henry Ruschmann on his New Jersey cattle ranch. Today, the company that he founded to reap the rewards of his invention, Meadowbrook Inventions, is the worlds leading manufacturer and supplier of glitter.

Glitter is small and sparkly, often used for craft projects as decoration. It is normally painted in metallic colors that make it reflect a large spectrum of colors easily.

Start Downloading Free Cursors

On the internet, glitter is referred to as anything that is shiny and sparkly in nature. Little spots of light that seem to ’sparkle’ in and out of focus to give the effect of ‘glittering’. Glitter is used to highlight photos of love and celebrities.

Glitter can be also used for mouse cursors. Below are some glitter cursors that you can download for free.

animated rocket pointer

Just as animated gifs were the next advance on static images, animated cursors are a nice improvement over normal static image cursors. Cursors already kind of animate by changing the cursor shape when you hover over something, when you move, when you resize, when you click, and when it is busy. But why stop at that? What about when it is idle and not doing very much. Well, having a cursor that is animated means that it is now possible to have the cursor constantly animating.

Some great examples of animated mouse cursors include a thumping heart, a flapping dragon, a rotating skull, a swimming fish, a stripping girl, a barking dog, you can get almost anything animated as a cursor these days. It is very easy to do and very enjoyable to watch and play with on your computer.

Start Downloading Free Cursors

The main drawback with animated cursors is when you need to do some very very precise clicking. Because the cursor is constantly changing and moving, it may be difficult to click exactly on where you require it to be clicked. This depends largely on the type of pointer that you choose. You might have one that doesn’t actually point at all, in which case y0u’ll just have to be a very good guesser or an outstanding estimator. Some animated cursors though, still maintain the pointer which is always on the top left hand corner (top right hand corner for left handed mouse users!). Having this one part of the cursor remain static and never move is a sure way to maintain usability of your pointer for times when you do really need it.

To make an animated cursor yourself, you will need a program that can output to .ani files (.ani stands for animation of course). With this program you should be able to draw one image that will be your starting point for the animation. Next, you slightly change this image and create a new ‘frame’. This new ‘frame’ is animation speak for the next move of your animation. This is a kin to cartoons where the cartoonist is required to draw the same picture many times over with suttle changes to depict movement. When the paper is shown very fast in front of the naked eye, it will look like the cartoon character is moving. This is the same for computer animation. Instead of each ‘paper’ it is called each ‘frame’. So you create the first frame, alter it slightly for the next frame, and so forth until you have completed your actions to the last position of your animation. Next you specify how fast to change images – 1 every second, 10 per second? Test and try it out to see what works and what effect you want to achieve. Once you are done, you save your animation as a .ani file and wala boom – you have you animated mouse cursor.
